Terms of Service

The health and safety of pet and groomer are our top priority. Pet grooming is inherently risky. And just as groomers accept a certain amount of personal risk when grooming your pet, you also assume reasonable risk for your pet when you choose to have it groomed. Please read the following points carefully.

Especially for Cats:
  • Cats are high risk. Cats have extremely fragile skin as well as unpredictable natures. When their coat matts, it often clumps close to skin folds. All these factors make grooming particularly risky for both cat and groomer. We are only able to groom cooperative cats. You understand that we may be unable to complete grooms for stressed or aggressive cats, and that you are responsible for the care of any grooming-related injures (e.g. clipper burn, nicks, etc.)
  • Cats are escape artists. For your cat's safety, please contain your cat in a kennel for pickup and drop-off.
  • For all Pets:
  • Matts aren't just ugly. Matted coats and thick undercoats can harbor infections, fungal conditions, wounds, or parasites. In addition, the process of removing matts and undercoat can be uncomfortable for your pet and may result in brush-burn, razor-burn, or nicks. This risk is part of grooming, and you agree that you are responsible for the care of any sensitivities and/or reactions sustained from grooming a matted dog or cat, including any after-effects such as swelling, redness, itchiness, or self-inflicted wounds.
  • Grooming can expose or aggravate current medical conditions. Please inform us of any known medical conditions your pet may have so that we can accommodate them as we work. Also, grooming can bring health problems to light. I will make every effort to inform you of anything out of the ordinary, but I cannot diagnose. Should your pet’s condition make a safe groom questionable, we will stop grooming and contact you to pick up your pet.
  • Accidents can happen. While we take every precaution for your pet’s safety, there can be circumstances beyond our control. Should there be an incident, I will make every effort to contact you. If you decide veterinarian attention is necessary, you accept responsibility for transporting your pet to the vet, as well as for any costs incurred.
  • Parasites hide well. If we find fleas or lice on your pet, I will try to contact you and then proceed with your preferred method of treatment. You understand that a small charge for shop sanitation and treatment will be added to your grooming charge.
  • Respect other pets. We make every effort to keep your pet safe. When picking up or dropping off your pet, keep it contained and under control. Please accommodate the safety and space of other clients’ pets. If another client is checking in or out before you, be sure they have full control of their pet(s) before you enter the shop.
  • Not every pet is a grooming candidate. At Grace’s Grooming Shop, we reserve the right to refuse any dog or cat, whether for health conditions, age, aggression, fear, noise level, or any other reason that makes the grooming process too stressful for either the pet or the groomer.
  • For most pets, grooming is a pleasant, uneventful routine, and at Grace's Grooming Shop we are proud of our track record since opening June 1, 2008. By signing below, you indicate that you have read and understood our terms of service and accept the risks involved.
