If it’s a cat, yes! Cats don’t adapt to being groomed in quite the same way as dogs do. Having their owner there to reasure them and take them home the minute their patience is worn out makes all the difference.
If it’s a dog, as a rule, no. Dogs often put on a big show for their owners and will be much calmer and more cooperative when it’s just them and me learning how to work with each other. You are welcome to stay for the puppy intro, as I can show you easy home maintenance techniques at the same time as I teach the puppy.

Sorry, we aren’t a doggy daycare. I schedule on an appointment basis, meaning I start grooming your dog within minutes of arrival, and the dog is to be picked up within 15 minutes of completion. This keeps the shop atmosphere calmer for everyone, as well as keeping kennel space available for all the dogs.

I do not groom pets under mood-altering drugs. It makes the pet’s body language harder to read, and impedes any training that could help the pet cope with the grooming situation. If a quiet atmosphere and careful grooming training aren’t enough to aleviate your pet’s stress, unfortunately I will be unable to groom your pet.

No, I do not shave or clip double-coated dogs. Shaving can damage the guard hairs and disrupt the undercoat’s shedding cycle, with the result of either balding or the coat growing in like thick sheep’s wool. I am happy to offer a deshed service that removes the shedding undercoat and strengths the guard hairs. I can also trim the griffon toes and do a minimal hygiene touchup in the bathroom areas.
